The China Earthquake Relief Committee of Rhode Island (CERCRI) was created jointly by over ten Chinese organizations on May 18, 2008 in response to the devastating earthquake that occurred in Southwest China on May 12th of 2008. We were established with the mission of consolidating the efforts of the Chinese and local communities to raise the most amount of funds possible for the victims of the earthquake. It will be an on going effort and we hope to raise at least $200,000 by June 1st for the victims in desperate need.
The committee is made up of members from such groups as the Rhode Island Association of Chinese Americans, An Leong Business Association, Chinese Christian Church of Rhode Island, The Star Chinese School, American Chinese Social Association of RI, the University of Rhode Island Confucius Institute, U.S. -China Institute & Confucius Institute at Bryant University, CSSA at Brown University, CSSA at University of Rhode Island, CSSA at Johnson and Wales University , Da Wen Zhai Magazine, Chinese Nurse Association of America , Rhode Island Chinese Library, Rhode Island Chinese Dancing Group.
罗德岛州中国地震赈灾委员会成立于二零零八年五月十八日。由本州十多个华人社团组织共同创立。 其成员包括：华人协会, 安良工商会, 罗德岛华人教会， 星星中文学校，罗德岛华人联谊会，罗德岛大学孔子学院，Bryant 大学孔子学院，Brown中国学生学者联合会, 大文摘，，华人护理协会，URI 中国学生学者联合会， Johnson & Wales中国学生学者联合会，中文图书馆， 华人舞蹈队等。
我们的目的是联合所有的力量，充分发动华人社区和当地社会， 尽最大努力筹得尽可能多的善款帮助受灾同胞。我们的目标是在五月十八日至六月一日的两周内筹款二十万美元。
叶超担任本委员会主席一职，统筹所有对内对外事务。副主席有陈和栋，马焰，黄桦，吴子平，分别负责华人社区，主流社会，文书对外联络和筹款。财政由杨薛锦云担任， 监察审核为亓霭云和罗春松。
